To both writers and artists, how does an idea come to you? Where from? Is it vague or crystal clear as soon as you think of it? Does the finished work resemble the idea or is it completely changed? How do you go about from idea to draft to final piece?
I'm trying to figure out where mine went, and I've found that hearing from other people does actually help me a bit. I used to have so many ideas that I was drawing everyday, but now I'm forcing myself to generate ideas, and I think that's what's putting me off. But because I'm not getting many ideas freely, I thought I'd ask you guys.
Hewwwooooo
Heya all. Been a freakin' long time, huh?
Short story is: lost family business because of crooks, moved home because of crooks, went to uni for animation, graduating this September, in process of bulking portfolio, dying from summer heat.
How're all of you?
So it's been a long time since I uploaded anything. I thought I'd return with a 'redraw' of an older work. But I want to ask you guys, out of my gallery, what old artwork do you want to see redrawn? Throw some suggestions at me! Been too long since I did XME or Teen Titans art.
Also, if you've tried to email me, I apologize. My email is FILLED with eons of spam and going through them a
Traditional vs Digital
I needed a new journal. I lost my computer last year so I've been getting re-used to traditional again. It's really weird, it's like you have to learn how to apply what you know all over again. Different angle, no shortcuts. Barbaric.
But good fun. When it's a 'drawing day'.
What tools of the trade do you guys prefer? And when you switch to the other, does it take you a while getting used to it?
(Btw, good to be back again).

The Justice System is SHIT
It's been a while. Again. I don't know if anyone recalls, but a while back I mentioned my family and I involved in a court case, in which some crooked bastard was trying to sue us. Well we thought it was all sorted last year but it wasn't. It continued, and we very nearly lost our business and our home. Bankruptcy was a very real threat, and though we feel a little more secure atm, we're not out of the woods yet. But this all came about because the bastard lied, and managed to bring about a huge court case. He committed purgury, and the biggest frustration was being unable to prove it properly. The law sucks. It allowed fuckers like him to ta
2015
I hope it's started well for everyone. I can't say mine is good but it is in no way terrible, so for that I'm grateful at least. Also, I just realized I've been on Deviantart for 11 years. Daaaaaaaaaaamn. I missed the 10 year celebration, maybe I should wait 'til 20 years, lol.

I find a ton of my inspiration comes from taking a walk. Even though I am thinking of my stories, the changes of scenery (even if I'm no paying attention to it) does wonders for me. I heard once that we tend to make mental connections in our regular surroundings, so by changing our location, we actually allow our brain to wander.
I also get inspiration from others. Looking at their OCs, their art, their writing. Nothing inspires creativity like seeing other people getting creative.
When I hit a rut with my art a while ago (digital art, that is), I started drawing other people's characters and fan-art. It helped me to do something different, and push outside my comfort zones. It did help a lot to get my creative juices flowing.
That said, sometimes you hit that block and nothing seems to break through it. All you can do is keep pushing on. Forcing yourself is actually good. It may not "feel" right, but it keeps you from getting rusty. Eventually inspiration will hit again.
Good luck!
